A man has been charged in connection with the serious assault of a 47-year-old in the Borders.

Emergency services were called to Melrose Road, Galashiels, at around 5pm on Saturday, July 5.

A 47-year-old man was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

Officers confirmed that a 30-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, August 18.
