A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a blaze at a four-storey block of flats in West Lothian.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire in Livingston’s Katherine Street at around 8.45pm on Thursday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 15 engines, three height appliances and specialist resources to tackle the flames, which reportedly started in a ground-floor flat.

Fire crews eventually stood down at around 10.49am on Friday.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment, and everyone inside the building left safely.

Police Scotland said a number of residents required alternative accommodation.
