A man has been charged as part of a murder investigation into the death of a dad-of-three during a ‘disturbance’ in Edinburgh.

Police confirmed a 23-year-old has been charged after being arrested in connection to the incident which occurred on Friday.

Peter Mullen, 30, died as a result of the incident on Leith Street around 7.45pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene and Mr Mullen was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later.

The 23-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Following the incident, a 46-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a minor assault.

She is expected to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police have set up a link to a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) that allows members of the public to send information directly to the public.
