A 28-year-old man has now been charged and is due to appear in court.

Firearms officers shut down an Edinburgh street on Tuesday after reports of a man acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Ferry Road in the city around 8.35pm on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on the Leith end of the street near a junction with North Fort Street and the road remained closed until after 2am.

A man has now been arrested and charged in connection to the incident and is due to appear at court on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35pm on Tuesday, August 22, officers attended at an address on Ferry Road in Edinburgh following a report of a man acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

“Around 2.15am on Wednesday, August 23, a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection and due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, August 24, 2023.”
