A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenager in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens.
The 16-year-old girl was attacked in the park on Saturday night.
An area of park had been cordoned off as police investigated the scene.
On Sunday officers confirmed that they arrested a 26-year-old over the incident as investigations continue.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 9.50pm on Saturday officers received a report that a 16-year-old had been seriously sexually assaulted within Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
