A man has been arrested following a reported hit and run in the early hours of Sunday.
A 21-year-old was left seriously injured following the incident that took place in the Easter Road area of Edinburgh at around 2.40am.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his injuries as serious.
Police have since confirmed a 23-year-old has been arrested in connection with the collision as they appeal for witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Dougal Begg said : “A young man sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision to come forward.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has any dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist with our investigation.”
