A man has been arrested after armed police locked down a street in Falkirk in search of a weapon.

Armed officers were deployed to Nairn Court at around 9am on Thursday, after receiving reports of a man in possession of a weapon.

A search of the area was carried out, however no weapon was recovered.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Thursday, July 25 2024, police received a report of a man potentially in possession of a weapon in Nairn Court, Falkirk.

“Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out. Due to the nature of the call, armed officers were also deployed.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing. No weapon was recovered.”
