A man has been arrested for allegedly racially abusing staff at Edinburgh Waverley station.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed a male was taken into custody on Sunday after an alleged incident of racial abuse towards London North Eastern Railway (LNER) staff.

Officers chased the man for a brief period before he was arrested.

A BTP post on X read: “Yesterday officers were alerted to a male who had racially abused LNER staff at Edinburgh Waverley station.

“Male identified and arrested after a short chase.

“We do not tolerate this type of behaviour and will deal with those involved appropriately.”
