A man has been arrested after a woman was found dead at a house in Edinburgh.
The 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called to a disturbance on Fernieside Crescent around 8.25am on Tuesday.
Video shared on social media shows police responding to the incident and a series of loud bangs can be heard. STV News understands that these sounds were not gunshots and were police attempting to gain access to a property.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and enquiries remain ongoing.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “This was an isolated incident and officers remain in the area to provide public reassurance and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 8.28am to attend an incident on Fernieside Crescent in Edinburgh and dispatched several resources to the scene.”
