A man has been arrested after allegedly scaling scaffolding before a pride march in Fife.

Emergency responders from both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to Kirkcaldy High Street following reports of the disturbance close to the start of the route.

The march was delayed for almost an hour while the man was brought back down to the ground when he was then arrested.

The march then proceeded as planned.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

They added: “Around 11.35am on Saturday, September 17 police were called following a disturbance on High Street, Kirkcaldy during which a man had climbed onto scaffolding.

“A 57-year-old man has been arrested following the incident and enquiries are continuing.”
