A man and woman have been taken to hospital after their car crashed at a roundabout and hit several trees in Fife.
Police are appealing for information following the incident on the A921, in Kirkcaldy at around 5.45am on Friday morning.
A black Vauxhall Corsa was travelling north east before appearing to lose control at the Nether Street roundabout junction. The car left the road and crashed into trees before coming to a stop.
Emergency services attended and a 45-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
Both remain in hospital for treatment but their conditons are unknown.
The road was closed for several hours as investigators conducted enquiries.
Constable Mike Rodgers said: “We need to establish the full circumstances of how this collision occurred. There were several motorists who witnessed the incident and I would ask anyone who was there at the time to get in touch with us.
“Gathering as much information as possible is vital as we seek to establish what has happened. In particular, I would ask anyone with dash cams or recording devices, to please check the footage as it could assist officers in the investigation.”
