A man is to stand trial charged with killing three people in a high-speed motorcycle crash.

Nathon Gibbon is accused of causing the deaths of Jason Gibbon, 37, Andrew Larty, 30, and 23-year-old Georgia Tate by dangerous driving.

The fatal smash is said to have occurred on the A6088 near Charles Hill in the Scottish Borders on July 28, 2024.

Prosecutors state the 33-year-old was riding a motorcycle when he did “engage in a race or trial of speed” with fellow biker Jason Gibbon.

The suspect allegedly went over the limit for the road including as he approached a bend.

It is claimed Gibbon then put on his brakes with Jason Gibbon in “close proximity” to him.

The indictment states this caused Jason Gibbon to take this bend at “excessive speeds” and go onto the wrong side of the road into the path of oncoming traffic.

As a result, it is said the man hit another motorcycle ridden by Mr Larty with Ms Tate as a pillion passenger.

Jason Gibbon, Mr Larty and Ms Tate are described as being so severely hurt that they died at the scene.

The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Gibbon’s legal team pled not guilty on his behalf.

Judge Douglas Brown set a trial and it is scheduled to begin in August 2027 in Edinburgh.

Gibbon, of Ashington, Northumberland, remains on bail.
