A man has been charged over a series of sexual assaults at the Fringe by the Sea festival.

The 76-year-old was arrested after the North Berwick festival’s security team was alerted over three alleged incidents in Lodge Grounds on Friday.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 76-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with three sexual assaults which happened on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Lodge Grounds area of North Berwick.

“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.”

From spokesperson at Fringe by The Sea said: “Following reports to our security team, we alerted the police to an incident, and a man has been arrested.

“We are grateful to the police for acting so swiftly.”
