A man has died at the scene of a two-car crash on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the A7, near to its junction with Drover Road, north of Hawick at around 4.35pm following reports of a collision involving a black Suzuki Ignis and a red Vauxhall Grandland.
The 75-year-old male driver of the Ignis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Grandland, a 52-year-old woman, was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment. Her condition has been described as serious but stable.
Officers closed the road until 12.15am to allow investigation work to be carried out.
Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone driving on the road around the time of the crash to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone driving on this road between Selkirk and Hawick around the time of the crash with dash-cam, to please check their footage and make contact with officers if it holds anything relevant.”
