A man has died after taking unwell at a leisure centre in Dunfermline.

Emergency services were called to Carnegie Leisure Centre on Pilmuir Street around 6.30am after the alarm was raised.

An ambulance and special operations response team was sent to the scene and a 70-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, we were made aware of a person having taken unwell in Pilmuir Street area of Dunfermline.

“Emergency services attended and a 70-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead

“The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 6.29am to attend an incident on Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline. We dispatched one ambulance and one special operations response team (SORT) to the scene.”
