Man, 35, dies in suspected shooting in Armadale as police launch investigation

A 35-year-old man has died following a suspected shooting in the West Lothian town of Armadale.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of a man injured at an address on Harestanes Road at around 11.50am on Saturday, September 12. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course and enquiries are at an early stage. Police say one line of enquiry is that a firearm may have been involved.

A police presence remains in the area as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Around 12pm on Saturday, officers received a report of a car on fire in the nearby Netherhouses area.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were also called to a blaze at the derelict Chapel House building on Wotherspoon Crescent at around 9.50pm on Saturday. Three appliances attended and no casualties were reported.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews returned to the scene on Sunday morning to carry out inspections.

Officers are keeping an open mind but are investigating the death and the car fire as potentially linked.
