A man has been airlifted to hospital following an incident at a quarry in Fife.
Emergency services were called to Langside quarry in Kennoway at around 8.55am on Thursday following reports of a man suffering an injury on site.
The Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance, a special operations team and an air ambulance to the scene.
A 29-year-old man was then airlifted to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Police Scotland has confirmed an investigation is under way and the Health and Safety Executive has been made aware.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 08.55am to attend an incident in Kennoway.
“We dispatched one ambulance, our trauma team, our special operations team and an air ambulance to the scene. We airlifted one male patient in his 20s to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We were called around 9am on Thursday, October 17, to a report of a man injured at a commercial premises on Langside Road in Kennoway.
“Emergency services attended and a 29-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and the Health and Safety Executive is aware.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.03am on Thursday, October 17 to reports of a person injured at Langside Quarry, Kennoway.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources and firefighters assisted emergency service partners at the scene.
“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and was transported to hospital.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.
