A road near to the Edinburgh Bypass has been closed to the public due to an ongoing police incident.

Emergency services were called to Calder Road in Sighthill at around 1.15pm on Tuesday.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that they dispatched two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and a trauma team to the scene.

STV News understands this is due to concern for a person.

The public have been asked to avoid the area at this time.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson: “We received a call today at 1.15pm to attend an incident on Calder Road in Edinburgh.

“We dispatched two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and our trauma team to the scene, with our first resource arriving within two minutes.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.05pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, police were called to Calder Road, Edinburgh, following a report of concern for a person.

“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are at an early stage.”
