M8 closed due to lorry shedding load as drivers delayed at rush hour

The M8 has been closed at rush hour after a lorry shed its load.

Traffic Scotland confirmed the road at junction 4 near Whitburn was closed after 8am on Monday.

Drivers are being urged to use caution on approach and expect delays of more than an hour and a half via diversions.

The diversion journey time is also taking drivers around 28 minutes.

Traffic Scotland said on X: “The M8 is currently closed eastbound at Junction 4a Heartlands due to an unsecure load on a heavy goods vehicle.

“Motorists are advised to use an alternative route at this time.”
