Volunteers battled waves of up to 4m in height at the harbour.

Dramatic footage has shown volunteers battling high winds during a lifeboat call out as Storm Darragh battered coastal areas in the UK.

Dunbar RNLI was called to an incident at the town’s harbour on Sunday afternoon as high winds of up to 80mph were reported during the storm.

Volunteers deployed in all-weather lifeboats before being stood down, but battled waves of up to 4m in height at the harbour.

Dunbar Lifeboat Station is one of the oldest in Scotland and is located on the south side of the mouth of the Firth of Forth.

Volunteer crews have previously been honoured with a dozen awards for bravery.

A statement from Dunbar RNLI said: “Out inshore D class and all-weather Trent class lifeboats launched on Sunday, December 8 for an incident at Dunbar Harbour.

“Both boats were stood down soon after launching at 2.35pm but the conditions at the tail end of Storm Darragh saw waves of up to 4m in height crashing in the harbour area.

“Both clips show the conditions RNLI volunteers face when answering the call.”
