Man hunted after fleeing hospital while under police custody

A 22-year-old man escaped from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.

A hunt has been launched after a man escaped from police custody in Edinburgh.

He escaped from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at around 3.30pm on Sunday, October 16.

The 22-year-old has not been found but police enquiries are ongoing.

Scottish Prison Service denied the man was in their custody and refused to comment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.30pm on Sunday, October 16, a 22-year-old man escaped from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh whilst under police custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace him.”
