Officers have issued an appeal to trace Ryan Gandy, but have advised the public not to approach him.

A search for a prisoner who escaped custody while being escorted in Edinburgh has entered its third day.

Ryan Gandy, 34, remains on the run after escaping custody from the Western General Hospital at around 5pm on Wednesday

He was last seen at Crewe Road South in the north of the city.

Officers have issued an appeal to help trace Gandy, but have advised the public not to approach him and instead contact the police immediately.

He is described as being around 6ft tall, of slim build, with dark receding hair.

When last seen he was wearing a blue Nike dry-fit top, black jogging bottoms, dark-coloured trainers, and a black Hoodrich gilet. He has a tattoo with the name “Katy” on his right arm and scars on both sides of his face.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts has been urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, or in an emergency call 999, and quote incident number 2515 of Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
