Hunt for masked man who stole cigarettes after failed bid to steal vehicle in Linlithgow

A manhunt has been launched for a masked suspect who stole cigarettes and alcohol after a failed bid to steal a vehicle in Linlithgow.

The attempted robbery and theft occurred at a premises on Falkirk Road at 11.25pm on Tuesday evening.

The suspect first entered the store and demanded the keys to a vehicle, but was unsuccessful.

He then re-entered the premises, and stole a number of cigarettes and alcohol.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, and of medium build.

He was wearing a white face covering, a black zipped hoodie, and black Nike trainers with orange around the lace area, and he carried a large black rucksack.

Detective Constable Matt Morran said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3853 of Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
