Police are on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver who struck a teenage cyclist.

The 15-year-old boy was riding a Just Eat bike along Mayfield Gardens in Edinburgh when he was hit by a vehicle at the junction of East Mayfield at around 7pm on Sunday.

It was reported that the driver failed to stop and drove off.

The teenager was taken to the city’s Royal Hospital for Children, where he was checked over and later released.

Constable Grant Hastie said: “We are carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle involved and to establish more details on this crash. 

“We are gathering and viewing CCTV footage from the local area.

“I would urge the driver concerned or anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash who witnessed this incident take place, or drivers who have dashcam footage, to please contact officers.”
