A horse has died following a collision on a rural road in Falkirk.
Police are appealing for information to trace a car that caused a crash on the unnamed road to Armadale, from the B8028 at Avonbridge, at around 5.15pm on Thursday.
The incident involved a horse and its rider, along with a blue Land Rover.
It is believed that the animal was startled by an overtaking vehicle, which loudly revved its engine and caused the collision.
As a result of its injuries, the horse had to be euthanised. A second horse and rider were uninjured.
The car in question is described as being similar to a Ford Fiesta ST, orange in colour, with a black spoiler.
Constable Joseph Wood, from Livingston Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the horse’s owner and family at this time.
“We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have potential dashcam footage to please come forward.
“We would welcome any information which could help us establish the full circumstances and also trace the driver of the orange vehicle.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101.
