An assistant coach at Hibs was taken to hospital following a crash on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to A68 near Pathhead, near the football club’s training ground, after reports of a two-vehicle collision at 7.15am.

Eddie May and a 29-year-old man were taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

The club confirmed that the 57-year-old is in a stable condition following the incident.

May has held various roles with the club since he joined the backroom staff in 2014. During his time playing for Hibs he made 100 appearances.

A social media post from the club read: “Hibernian FC can confirm that Eddie May is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident earlier today.

“At this time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Eddie and his family. Everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Police confirmed that the 29-year-old man was charged with a road traffic offence.

A spokesperson from the force said: “At 7.15am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 we received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A68 near Pathhead.

“A 57-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. 

“The 29-year-old was also arrested and charged with a road traffic offence.”
