A possibly harmful substance was found inside a house after a man’s body was discovered in the Borders.
Police received a report of the death of an 81-year-old man at around 6.05pm on March 1, 2025.
Officers attended an address on West Myerscrof in Ancrum where the substance was found.
It is not believed that it posed any risk to the public, police said.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of the death of an 81-year-old man within a property on West Myrescroft in Ancrum around 6.05pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
“Emergency services attended and a possible harmful substance was found within, however there was no risk to the wider public.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed any suspicious circumstances.
“Emergency services will remain in attendance while enquiries to establish the full circumstances continue.”
