The replacement venue for Graham Linehan’s cancelled stand-up show has pulled out from hosting the show.

The undisclosed venue had been booked after the Leith Arches said on Tuesday it would not host the Comedy Unleashed event because of the Father Ted creator’s views on gender issues.

But on Thursday, just hours before the gig was scheduled to go ahead, the organisers of the show announced it too had been cancelled.

Those who had tickets to the Leith Arches gig were previously told the new spot would be revealed at 3.30pm on Thursday.

But just after 4pm Comedy Unleashed said the replacement venue had also pulled out, with a third venue to be emailed to fans.

“Our replacement venue has cancelled on us too,” the account tweeted, “but we’re still going ahead tonight at 7.30. Ticket holders have been emailed with the new location.”

Linehan’s appearance at the Comedy Unleashed gig, marketed as an “edgy comedy” event, was initially kept secret.

When it was revealed Leith Arhces said it would no longer host the show because of the writer’s views on transgender issues, which it said did not align with its values.

Lineham, known for his work on the IT Crowd and Black Books, has been outspoken on gender matters.

He was previously banned from Twitter following thousands of complaints.
