A giraffe who “brought joy” to Edinburgh Zoo has died following a short illness.
Ronnie the Nubian giraffe arrived in the Scottish capital from Woburn Safari Park in 2021.
The eight-year-old was popular among both visitors and zookeepers. A statement from Edinburgh Zoo said that the giraffe “will be greatly missed”.
It read: “We are sad to share the news that Ronnie the Nubian giraffe has passed away at the age of eight following a short illness.
“Ronnie joined the zoo from Woburn Safari Park in 2021 and was a wonderful ambassador for his wild relatives and brought joy to us all, especially his keepers.”
