Fundraiser launched for teenage daughter of man who died after hit-and-run in West Lothian

A fundraiser has been launched to help the teenage daughter of a man killed in a hit-and-run in Linlithgow arrange his funeral.

Raffaele Bramante, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a grey Renault Clio on Sunday, August 30.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident after failing to stop at the scene.

An investigation to establish the full circumstances remains ongoing.

‘Unimaginable grief’

Following her father’s death, Raffaele’s 18-year-old daughter, Aurora, has said her “life has been changed forever”.

Aurora is now arranging her father’s funeral, as much of the rest of the family live in Italy.

A fundraiser has been launched on her behalf by family friend Molly Vaughan.

“We are hoping to raise funds to cover the cost of Raffaele’s funeral and cremation, which is currently expected to be around £5,000. His family have not yet had the opportunity to access any financial assistance or funding that may be available, and in the meantime the arrangements still need to be made.

“I have set up this fundraiser because I want to take as much of the financial pressure away from Raffaele’s daughter and his family as possible, allowing them to focus on grieving, remembering Raffaele and being together rather than worrying about how they will afford to lay him to rest.

“Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean more than we can put into words. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would also be an incredible help.

“Thank you for taking the time to read about Raffaele and for showing his family kindness and support during the most difficult time of their lives.

“Rest peacefully, Raffaele. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”

‘His absence will be felt every day’

Barleo, where Raffaele worked, also paid tribute to the 48-year-old, saying his death has left the team with “enormous sadness”.

It read: “It’s with the deepest sadness and a broken heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend Raffael.

“Raffael tragically lost his life after being struck by a car. His passing has left an enormous sadness within all of us at Barleo restaurant.

“Raffael was not just a member of our staff. He was part of our family. He shared his time, his hard work, kindness and many unforgettable moments with us. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, his absence will be felt every day.

“Thank you, Raffael, for being part of our family. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the moments we shared. You will always be remembered, and you will always have a special place in our hearts.
Although you are no longer with us, your memory will remain with us forever.”
