Former Scotland rugby star Stuart Hogg has been arrested over allegedly breaching a non-harassment order.

Police Scotland confirmed a 33-year-old man was arrested in the Hawick area on Thursday, February 12, following a report of a breach of the order.

In 2024, Hogg admitted abusing his estranged wife over the course of five years and was convicted of a single charge of domestic abuse.

A court heard how the ex-British and Irish Lion berated his wife for “not being fun” after going on drinking binges with his colleagues, and sent “in excess of 200 text messages in a few hours despite having been asked to leave her alone”.

Mrs Hogg was also heard to have had a panic attack due to the messages.

The ex-Scotland captain was sentenced to a five-year non-harassment order and fined after breaching bail for repeatedly contacting his ex-partner.

Earlier this month, Hogg was stripped of the MBE he received in the 2024 New Year Honours list for services to rugby.

Police confirmed Hogg was released without charge following the arrest.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 33-year-old man was arrested in the Hawick area on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in connection with a report of a breach of a non-harassment order.

“He was released without charge.”
