A football fan has challenged himself to cycle to all 42 SPFL stadiums to raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity.
Graeme Tulloch from Menstrie in Clackmannanshire decided to take on the task, which will see him cycle thousands of miles, after losing all four of his grandparents to dementia.
The 33-year-old is aiming to raise hundreds of pounds for Alzheimer Scotland and is currently halfway through the challenge.
“I like cycling and football so I decided to combine the two and hopefully raise a bit of money for Alzheimer Scotland as well as a bit of awareness as well,” he said.
“Last weekend I was in Edinburgh doing Hearts, Hibs and Edinburgh City football club. There’s obviously some longer ones to do, so down to the Borders to do clubs like Annan Athletic and Stranraer which is probably about 100 miles away.
“I’ve got the far north to do as well, including Dingwall, so I’ve got some longer ones to do but I’m just hoping to raise as much money and awareness as I can.”
Graeme says that the coronavirus pandemic has impacted his cycling challenge, with travel restrictions forcing him to stay close to home and cycle to local clubs during lockdown.
He is aiming to finish at Hampden, and as a Rangers fan is excited to make it to Ibrox.
However he says he has no qualms about taking a picture with his bike outside Celtic Park despite the two teams rivalry.
“I’m a Rangers fan, so I’ve been leaving Glasgow until later in the challenge for that reason,” he said.
“It doesn’t stop me from getting a picture outside Celtic Park. I appreciate I never thought I would get a picture outside Celtic Park, but I think the challenge is bigger than anything else.”
Graeme’s family have been supportive of the challenge, with wife Kelly often driving to pick him up from clubs further away from their home.
“She’s been very supportive and quite patient,’ he said.
Graeme says he hopes to have completed the challenge by the end of July providing there are no further lockdowns and hopes to inspire others to take on similar challenges for charity.
