Football equipment stolen from local team in Broxburn, West Lothian sparks police appeal

Police have launched an appeal for information after football equipment was stolen from a local team in West Lothian.

The incident was reported to police on Sunday, February 25, a week after the incident took place at Albyn Park football pitches in Broxburn between 2.15pm and 2.35pm on Saturday, February 14.

Police said a flatbed lorry with a crane attached drove to the rear entrance of where local football team Broxburn Athletic store their equipment in blue shipping containers.

The lorry was said to have removed one container before returned for the remaining one.

Police said enquiries remain ongoing and CCTV footage from in and around the area was being checked.

Constable David Campbell said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries including checking CCTV footage from in and around the local area since this was reported to police on Sunday, February 25.

“Between 2.15pm and 2.35pm on Saturday, February 14, a flatbed lorry with a crane attached drove to the rear entrance of Albyn Park where a local football team store their equipment in blue shipping containers.

“The lorry removed one container, then returned for the other one.

“If you have any information that may assist our enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1488 of February 25.”

A club post on X last month read: “Broxburn Athletic Colts are appealing for support / information after two shipping containers filled with football equipment appear to have been stolen from Stewartfield playing fields, adjacent to Albyn Park, stopping significant numbers of kids from playing football.”
