Firefighters tackle blaze after fire breaks out at Starbucks

SFRS were called to the premises on Edinburgh's Royal Mile at around 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews have tackled a blaze at a Starbucks coffee shop in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the city’s Royal Mile shortly after 2pm on Tuesday.

Four appliances successfully extinguished the blaze, and there were no reported casualties.

A video from the scene shows the coffee chain shop boarded up and closed to the public following the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.11pm on Tuesday, May 16 to reports of a fire within a building on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the area, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

“There were no reported casualties.”
