Firefighters were pelted with bottles, bricks and rocks while dealing with a deliberately set blaze.

The emergency crew were attacked as they tried to extinguish the fire in Whitecross, Falkirk, on Friday night.

Linlithgow Fire Station tweeted that no-one was injured and police turned up quickly to help.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to Manuel Terrace, Whitecross, around 8pm on Friday following reports firefighters were under attack.

“We assisted our emergency service colleagues to allow them to do their job, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
