A home firebombed in Edinburgh is the latest incident to be linked to an ongoing gang war which has spread across the Central Belt.

Emergency services were called to the property on Pitcairn Grove at around 2am following reports of a blaze.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze and no one was injured. Detectives are treating the incident as deliberate and believe it may be linked to a feud between criminal organisations.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at a property on Pitcairn Grove in Edinburgh shortly after 2am on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

Violence escalated throughout the the Central Belt after two Edinburgh homes, one on Niddrie Marischal Crescent and another on West Pilton Bank, were targeted by gunmen.

Last Saturday masked men invaded a home on Glasgow’s Egilsay Crescent resulted in a 72-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy suffering significant injuries.
