Fire crews remain at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh following a fire through the night.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called around 6.38pm on Sunday to reports of a fire in the open at the landmark in the city.

Six fire appliances and specialist resources were sent to the scene, where firefighters continue to work to extinguish a fire affecting an area of grass.

There are no reported casualties, and crews remain on scene as of 4pm on Monday.

“Operations will continue until the fire is fully extinguished”, the SFRS confirmed.

Police Scotland confirmed that Queens Drive remains closed, with emergency services still in attendance, and that the public should continue to avoid the area.

Residents in the local area should keep windows and doors closed, officers said.

“We were alerted at 6.38pm on Sunday, 19 July to reports of a fire in the open at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh”, an update read.

“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting an area of grass.

“Our crews remain on scene having worked throughout the night fighting the fire. Operations will continue until the fire is fully extinguished.

“We ask the public to please avoid the area and remind them that road closures are in place. Anyone affected by smoke should close their windows and doors.

“We also urge people to remain vigilant during this hot spell of weather, and we thank them for their understanding.”
