People have been urged to shut their windows and doors after a fire erupted near a biomass plant in Fife.
Emergency services were called to the blaze in a derelict building near to the RWE Biomass Plant in Markinch, Glenrothes on Wednesday afternoon.
Due to the significant amount of smoke in the area, people have been urged to shut their doors and windows to avoid smoke inhalation.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and keep vehicle windows closed.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance at a derelict building fire opposite the RWE Biomass Plant in Markinch.
“A significant amount of smoke is moving across nearby populated areas.
“Residents: Please keep windows and doors closed to avoid smoke inhalation.
“Drivers: Avoid the area if possible and keep vehicle windows closed.”
