Fife College’s campus in Dunfermline was shut down on Friday following the death of a staff member.

Emergency services were called to the site at around 11.10am after being made aware of a medical matter.

A 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. All classes were cancelled following the incident.

Support is being offered to students and employees impacted by the death.

A spokesperson for Fife College said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our colleagues has passed away today at our Dunfermline Campus.

“Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues at this extremely difficult time. Support is being made available to staff and students affected.

“We can confirm that this is not a public health issue.”

Detectives are not treating the death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.10am on Friday, March 20, 2026, we were made aware of a medical matter at a college in Dunfermline.

“Emergency services attended however a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
