A multi-agency rescue mission was launched after a father and son got into difficulty while on a camping trip in the Scottish Borders.
Border Search and Rescue Unit teams were called by police to assist with two walkers south of The Schil in the Cheviots on Sunday afternoon.
BSRU said the pair had been out overnight and in Sunday’s heat found themselves in trouble without water.
The pair were also helped by two passing walkers which the BSRU commended for assisting the causalities.
By the time emergency services found them, the father had succumbed to heat exhaustion and became ill.
They added that the son called for police and mountain rescue but also became ill from heat exhaustion.
When the team got to the casualties they were sheltered, assessed and given nourishment which BSRU said improved their condition.
They were then helped to vehicles and driven off the hill while the team departed in remaining vehicles and on foot.
Following the rescue BSRU issued a warning to their Facebook page that read: “Be aware of heat’s impact in the hills – prepare, pace yourself, take enough water, and make right decisions.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
