The family of a woman who was found dead in a home in the Scottish Borders have paid tribute to a “much-loved mother and daughter”.
Megan Hughes, 31, died in Chirnside, Duns, on Sunday.
At around 4.35pm, police responded to reports that Ms Hughes had been seriously injured at a property on Windram Road, but she could not be saved.
In a statement, Ms Hughes’ family, who have asked for privacy, said: “Megan was a much-loved mother and daughter.
“She was beautiful and caring.
“This has left a massive hole in the family who are all absolutely devastated.”
A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death, and was due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Detective inspector Laura White said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Megan at this difficult time.
“We will continue to support them as the investigation continues.”
