Police ScotlandA body has been found in water during the search for a missing woman in Falkirk.
Jennifer Stephen’s family has been informed of the discovery that took place near to where she was last seen.
The last sighting of the 34-year-old was in the Beauly Court area at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.
Investigations suggested that she may have been on the Union Canal path, near to Hallglen Terrace, later that evening.
Police issued a missing person plea on Wednesday morning and said they were “extremely concerned” for her welfare after a member of the public found some of her personal belongings.
A woman’s body was then discovered in the area at around 1.45pm on Wednesday.
Formal identification is yet to take place; however, Jennifer’s family has been contacted.
Officers say the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.
