Family of missing woman from Galashiels say they are ‘very worried for her’ as police search continues Police Scotland

The family of a missing woman from Galashiels say they are “very worried for her” as police continue an investigation into her disappearance.

Michelle Pettie, 45, disappeared on Saturday, September 3 and was officially reported as missing to police two days later.

The last reported sighting of her was near shops on Hawthorn Road, Galashiels around 9am on Friday, September 9.

Police say they are carrying out extensive enquiries and have been checking CCTV footage in the area.

Michelle is described as white, around 5ft 3in in height with a slim build. She often dyes her hair and at this time it’s believed to be dyed a pink and purple colour.

However, police say it is possible she may have changed it again in the last few days. When she was last seen, she was wearing a black jacket and jeans.

Inspector Lynsey Thomson said: “We are concerned for Michelle’s welfare, no-one has heard from her or seen her since the sighting in Galashiels on Friday. Her family is, understandably, very worried about her and just want to know she is safe and well.

“I would ask people to note that Michelle may have changed her hair colour and to bear that in mind when looking out for her. If anyone has seen Michelle or has any information or knowledge as to her whereabouts please contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1749 of September 5.”
