A vigil is set to be held in memory of Cole Cooper amid the ongoing investigation into his unexplained death.

The 19-year-old was reported missing on May 9 and was last seen in the Longcroft area near Falkirk.

Specialist search teams, including a police helicopter, drones, and officers from the dive and marine unit, joined the search for the missing teen.

On Friday, Cole’s family were notified of the discovery of a body in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Banknock on Friday. However, formal identification is yet to take place.

His Aunt, Aimee Tennie, announced that a vigil is due to be held on Sunday at the Glenskirly Hotel in Banknock after weeks of “trauma”.

She said: “We would like to invite everyone who has supported Cole since his disappearance, including friends, family, the community and beyond, to a Vigil in his honour.

“This is our opportunity to remember, commemorate, and celebrate him. There are very little words left to express the trauma we have endured the past several weeks, but there are many to describe how incredible our Cole was. Please join us in remembering Cole.”

Detectives revisited the location on Cumbernauld Road on Sunday. They spoke to more than 150 people, and officers are reviewing their responses.

More than 2,000 hours of CCTV footage have been examined during the ongoing investigation. Those with information regarding the disappearance have been urged to come forward.

Chief Inspector Alex Hatrick said: “Cole Cooper’s disappearance and the circumstances leading up to it remain unexplained.

“We remain in regular contact with the family to ensure they are kept up to date with all aspects of the investigation.

“We will continue to support them and provide them with updates as our enquiries progress.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to piece together Cole’s last movements and find answers for his loved ones.

“Anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, is urged to speak to police if they have not already done so.”
