The family of a Stirling student who died after being hit by a train are raising money to bring his body home to India.
Abel Tharayil was pronounced dead after being struck on a level crossing on Ladysneuk Road, Cambuskenneth, on March 12.
The 24-year-old had moved from Thrissur in India to Scotland two years ago.
Abel’s brother, Abhiram, described the student as extremely “talented” with a “good soul”.
“Abel was one of the best people”, he told STV News.
“He was a very nice guy and was always happy. He had big dreams when he left India.
“Abel told me that he was planning on finding a job and coming back home during a phone call a few hours before he passed. He was very talented in everything.

“I always had my brother to share my happiness or sadness. I’d always call him.
“I’m a full mess now, and I don’t know how to handle it. “
A fundraiser has been launched to help with repatriating the 24-year-old’s body and assist with giving Abel the send-off he deserves
Abhiram added: “We believe that he needs to be back home so that he can have some peace.
“We want him here so we can finish the Hindu religious rituals and have him close to the family.”
British Transport Police has confirmed that they are currently not treating the death as suspicious.
