Families and loved ones reunite at airport ahead of Christmas

Emotions were running high as people shared special moments with family members who travelled from all across the globe.

Almost 200,000 people have passed through Edinburgh airport over the past few days and, amongst them, many have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their loved ones.

Robin Blacklock and his daughter Martha were looking forward to welcoming Angus back to Scotland from his time studying abroad in Canada.

After an emotional reunion Robin told STV News: “I wasn’t convinced he’d make it back for Christmas.

“He has had two delayed flights and he has not got a great record with travel.”

Angus’ sister Martha added: “It feels exciting, we’ve been thinking about when he is coming home.

“It’s good to have him back.”
