A carer from Falkirk has been struck off the register after she was convicted of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman.
Amber Slattery attacked the vulnerable woman as she slept on July 6, 2019. She was later found guilty of sexually assaulting the woman at Stirling Sheriff Court on March 12, 2024.
In the report published by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) it states Slattery had a “good history” prior to the incident, however, due to the seriousness of the assault, removal from the register was the only option.
The SSSC said: “Your actions placed a person at risk of emotional, physical and psychological harm. Your actions fell well below the standards expected of a social service worker.
“The public has the right to expect that social service workers, in whom it places trust and confidence to work responsibly with service users, will uphold the law and not engage in offending behaviour in work or outside work, which would call into question their suitability to work in social services.
“Although your behaviour was an isolated incident, given the seriousness of it and the lack of insight or remorse shown, the SSSC cannot assess the risk of repetition to be low.”
