Elderly woman rescued after fire breaks out in flat

The woman was walked to safety and treated by ambulance crews at the scene.

Firefighters are tackling a blaze which broke out in the early hours of the morning in Edinburgh.

Four fire engines were sent to a tenement block in Keir Street when the alarm was raised at 2.07am on Friday.

An elderly woman was walked to safety by firefighters and treated at the scene by ambulance crews, but did not need hospital treatment.

One fire engine was still at the scene at 6.45am.
