An elderly woman has died and three people have been seriously injured following a two-car crash in West Lothian.
Emergency services were call to the A706 near Carriber Mill shortly before 7pm on Friday evening, following the crash which involved a red Honda Civic and a silver Volkswagen T-Roc.
The 87-year-old female passenger in the Volkswagon was pronouinced dead at the scene.
The 64-year-old male driver of the Volkswagon and a 64-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 21-year-old driver of the Honda was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The road was closed for eight hours to allow investigations to take place and was re-opened around 2am on Saturday.
Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time, and our enquiries into the crash are ongoing.
“I am appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and who may have seen what happened to contact officers.
“We are also keen to speak to the driver of a Range Rover who was driving along the road around the time of the crash.
“I’d also ask that anyone with dash-cam footage review this and see if it has captured anything of significance that could assist with our investigation.”
