An elderly man has died following a single-car crash in Peebles.
Police were called to Whitehaugh Avenue around 6.25pm on Thursday following a crash involving a Honda HRV.
An 80-year-old woman and a 87-year-old man were taken to hospital, where the man later died.
The woman remains in a serious condition.
The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Philip Winning said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and the woman injured in this collision.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened, and I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any information, to please contact the police.
“I’d also ask drivers with dash-cam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything which may assist our enquiries.”
